During the premiere of "Law Abiding Citizen" in Hollywood this past Tuesday evening, all seemed quiet. However, once Gerard Butler arrived, fans went crazy as they screamed "Gerry, Gerry!" It didn't take Butler long before he exited his limo to walk across the street of Hollywood Blvd and greet his fans. What a swell guy!
Not only did the screaming fans add to the excitement and noise at The Grauman's Chinese Theater but for some odd reason sirens abounded from paramedics to police cars. Apparently, there was a medical emergency within the theater that prompted the arrival of the paramedics while the police car was en route to their own emergency call.
After signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans, Gerry started his final descent to the red carpet for his posing duties. This guy is a great character for candid shots as photographers are able to capture some of the crazy faces Butler likes to make. At the end of the photo line, he gave this snide but funny smile to one of the photographers. That was a great lead shot for that photographer's photo gallery.
There is one photographer who has the biggest Nikon lens on her camera that Butler noticed. He was amused that it was so big. He came up to her and took her camera to take shots of the photographers on the line. All the photogs "oohed" and "ahhed" as Butler gave her camera back and gave her a big hug. This time the photographer was the subject in the picture along with Butler.
Butler loves to joke around also, as one female photog tried to get his attention with the line "Me love you long time!" Gerry started to laugh and restate that line adding, "That's a good one."
For a quick moment, Butler seemed to not be a law abiding citizen as autograph hounds shouting back across the boulevard for Gerry to come back again and sign autographs. For a quick moment Butler, turns towards the crowd across the street and flips a bird then quickly turns back around to the photographers and starts to laugh which brings an uproar of laughter on the carpet and across the street.
Gerry wasn't the only one having fun, as Jamie Foxx arrived on the carpet to greet the fans. Foxx pointed every which way making sure the photographers got their shot. He was finally joined by Regina Hall of "The Scary Movie" fame. The twosome were photographed together and seemed glued to the hips for a while.
Lovely Eva Marcille (formerly Pigford) posed up a storm illustrating why she is a model. She knew how to use her eyes to mesmerize the photographers to go crazy and shoot a deluge of photo frames.
Cedric The Entertainer showed up with an injured right foot but was able to make it through the carpet without any pain. Wearing red St Louis Cardinals hat Cedric quipped, "I love L.A. but I gotta represent. St. Louis all the way baby."
Speaking of St. Louis and the color red that represents the team. Another red made an appearance on the carpet. Gloria Allred strolled down the carpet hold up a placard making a statement of David Letterman's recent scandal. The placard read, "David Letterman Just Say No To Sex In Your Work Place."
Viewers out there, don't say no to "Law Abiding Citizen." The film is about family man Clyde Sheldon (Gerard Butler) whose family life is shattered when his wife and daughter are murdered during a home invasion. When the killers are caught and prosecuted by Philadelphia prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), he is forced to give a shorter sentence one of the killers. As years pass and one of the killers is set free, Clyde Sheldon seeks revenge by killing the individual who murdered his wife. Admitting his guilt, Sheldon is put in prison but doesn't stop him from seeking further revenge on anyone of had to do with his family's death.
"Law Abiding Citizen" opens nationwide on October 16, 2009.
