You know what's so cool about this? The whole thing was completely random! A few months back, I had a totally different cover concept in mind, based on something I had seen on Deviant Art. It required original artwork from that same artist, but when I found out my book would have to be published in 2 separate volumes, we just couldn't afford the artist's fee. So Nathan and I decided to come up with something on our own. We messed around with a few ideas, the old cemetery fence being one of them. But to be honest, I got such negative feedback on that idea, that I knew it just wasn't right.
I started thinking it would be best to go back to the angel monument graphics I use on my website, and when I found the partial image of this angel statue, I loved it. I posted it on GALS and kind of described the idea of putting a red rose in her hand, and that's all Nathan I were going to do, and then add the text. Next thing I know, Frannie posted an expanded image that she came up with, adding the bench, the roses and background. SHE came up with the concept and then I just knew it was right. Then we worked together on the final piece... I chose the bench, the balustrade in the background, and Frannie polished the whole thing!
What I think is so cool about this, is how it all came together. Frannie never even did graphic art until she discovered Gerry! After she joined GALS, she wanted to learn how to make siggys, so she bought a graphics program and started messing around. Come to find out, she had undiscovered talent! Now look at her!
When I think about the first idea I fretted over months ago, I realize this one is just so far beyond it. Some things are just meant to be!

He has inspired a lot of people to do all sorts of artistic things! He's inspired songs, stories, original art, graphics, acting and on and on the list goes! It's amazing to me how this one guy can be such a positive force in the lives of others.
I'm glad he's inspired you too, Aysun!

I tell you, I have never been so inspired to write as I am with Gerry; I did start out with Alan, but the stories are coming at me more quickly and I have so many ideas with him in mind as the male lead character. Now, I can't imagine NOT writing.

Just wanted to let you all know that we are working on the cover design for book 2. It's a little more challenging than the 1st one, so it may be a while before I show it. It's VERY different in tone, theme and color scheme than Book One. I'm the kind of person who LOVES to look at book cover art. I can spend hours in the children's section at a book store, just looking at the illustrations. Anyhow, I'll keep you all updated about our progress! Swannie

Beautiful!! Talking about Graphic arts, I've been doing them ever since I could get my hands on a computer. I've done a lot of flyers for local bands shows. And I've also made a bunch of tshirt designs for my friends band. When I was modeling I did a whole bunch of image editing, which was amazingly fun.

I found this at Swannie's Chanson site (I was looking for updates; I really, really want to read this book) and found this cool thing about her son, Nathan. www.chansondelange.com/Her son Nathan co-wrote a song for a Disney CD for the animated musical "The Princess and the Frog". Swannie, tell your son congrats for us, this is amazing news! You must be so proud of him.
