It was during the days after Paul Newman's death when on IMDb boards someone mentioned Gerard's name together with late Newman's as the two men had some qualities in common.... I also thought the same, though i couldn't exactly put my nail in it.... Needless to say the poor poster was shred into pieces by the IMDb wasps..... Now, i just came from a summer cinema - that is open cinemas in Greece - where i saw for the very first time "Cat on a hot tin roof" with Paul Newman and Elisabeth Taylor. Somewhere towards the end of the film there is a scene when Paul is putting on - or taking off, i'm not sure...too distracted - his shirt, and something in the scene was just so familiar....And then it stroke me...ofcourse Terry Sheridan !!! Ladies, forgive me the blashphemy, yet indeed, the two men have the same manly grace without being too macho and the same intense acting when portraying a tortured man deeply in pain. Now, am i hallucinating or too Gerard obsessive ? PS Do i have to add about the same unbelievably gorgeous eyes ?

Now, am i hallucinating or too Gerard obsessive ? PS Do i have to add about the same unbelievably gorgeous eyes ? Put side by side they are both incredibly gorgeous men and very down to Earth and yes I se similarities. Before Paul Neumann died and e-mail was going on by a woman who ran into him (years ago) at a local ice cream shop in a resort town where he owned a cottage in the New England area. He was sitting by himself at the counter chatting with the shop owner and this woman walks in and completely falls to pieces upon seeing him. If I'm not mistaken she asked for his autograph and he graciously signed it and then if I recall she was so flabbergasted that she messed up on counting the money on her ice cream cone or some such embarrassing situation, (can't remember exactly) but she was embarrassed the shop owner was grinning at her and so was Paul Neumann. Then she left the shop and when she got outside she realized she forgot her ice cream cone. She hated to go back in because she was just red faced but she bit the bullet and went back in anyway. This time the shop owner and Paul Neumann were chuckling about something and she just knew it was because of the way she behaved. Her face flushed with embarrassment she told them she forgot her ice cream cone and she was mortified when Paul Neumann smiled and said no she didn't but she had put it in her purse with her wallet.

Oh, i can't blame her...... A virtue i much appreciated about dear PN was the his marital fidelity. When asked if he was ever temptated in making affair outside marriage- and God knows he probably had myriads of similar proposals- he just answered : " Why should i compromise with eating a hamburger on the street when i have a fine T-bone steak awaiting for me at home?" I wish Gerard will meet his T-bone steak, soon ! (Told ye....we the Leos have a great, generous heart !)

That poor woman, how mortifying. Tell me, does this picture look like Paul, because I think he has similar features as Paul.... the look says it all.

He does a little leppard. Actually I think the comparision lies in that both men are very atractive and masculine. They both give off the same sort of energy.

My point exactly, Ladies..... There isn't something visual or something in the features...it's just their charm that comes out of the big screen... I know i maybe sound like a rather nut fan-girl, yet i'm telling you, last night while watching the film and with no Gerard in my mind before, something in Newman's acting and grace made me think of Gerard..... With all respects, Paul Newman !

OMG! Those pictures together are an amazing comparison. The similarities are unquestionable. I mean, look at that hair line! Even the hair line is dead on. The eyes in how they both have deep set eyes with a pronounced eyelid and the lips, stare - It's pretty wild to see both pictures like that. I have always thought G was like the modern day Steve McQueen. Newman and McQueen were always compared in their day, right? I absolutely love Newman, but to me Steve McQueen brought the testortone level up to another level. Just like Daniel Craig did to the Bond movies. Craig and McQueen are not as purely good looking as Newman or Gerry, but they have that certain something, that over the top masculinity. Gerry and Paul have that AND both are drop dead gorgeous - which gives both of them more opportunties to do other things on film like the more romantic comedies or sillier roles. Gerry even more so than all of them including Newman. Gerry really has a very special combination of a real mans man, but a man who never takes himself too seriously. For instance, I could never see Daniel Craig or McQueen doing TUT or PSILY, but I could see Newman doing PSILY, but not TUT. ...am I making sense? First morning of vacation and I am way relaxed ....do I make any sense?

You absolutely do Prince! I agree in nearly all points Except one thing, I don´t think that neither Craig nor McQueen are attractive - not for me - but it´s my personal taste. Daniel Craig has incredible Eyes but other than that I find him rather homely

I agree with all the above. I love manly men, not a fan of pretty boys - never was - they seem... fragile. Had I been born at a different time, I would have obsessed over Paul Newman the way I obsess over Gerry, he's a man's man and he exudes testosterone and virility. They are both handsome men and in years to come, they will say the same wonderful things about Gerry (when more people start noticing him) that they had always said about Paul. Everyone loved Paul Newman and everyone will love Gerry.... well, except for those IMDB people, but they are raving lunatics.

There was something sexy about Danielle Craig taking a ball beating in that chair.... Not that I would want to tie a man up and punch him in the balls repeatedly but... That was weirdly sexy.
Anyway, Sass, that was very insightful and you made this such an interesting thread. I believe you really hit on something here.

I'm with Aysun, here...even if i find Daniel Graig slightly more handsome than Steven McQueen. Being a child at late '70s i could see him everywhere, yet he never got his appeal on me .... Well, another element that stroke me reading Prince's post was that both Paul and Gerard have this sparkling in their eyes that prepares you to expect from them an silly /teasing situation at any given time...Perhaps they both didn't take themselves too seriously.... I agree, given the chance, Newman would be excellent in PSILY as well as in TUT - i picture him as Mike wearing kind of a hat Gerard was wearing lately.....

He does a little leppard. Actually I think the comparison lies in that both men are very attractive and masculine. They both give off the same sort of energy. You know you can't say they look alike enough to be brothers or anything but they are definitely cut from the same cloth in the fact that a woman that would have found Paul Neumann irresistible would be enamored of Gerry. They are both classically handsome man's men with a tinge of vulnerability that makes women swoon.

That's right, Dianne - not brothers yet probably father and son ! Seeing them side a side their similar "aura" is more obvious and almost uncanny !!! Thanks for your kind words, yet i don't think i brought something new....a similar thread was already at IMDb when PN passed away and as i told before, last night at the cinema, i REALLY thought i was watching Gerry for a moment ! (Some would say i'm spending too much time on these boards...... )
