Well at least this sounds like they are trying to rev the movie up to get the younger audience. That's their plan since younger people generally aren't aware of Point Break. Let's hope they can not only make this fun and exciting but market it properly!! It sounds like Gerry will be traveling the world this year again only due to working this time around. We could be some happy fans if we get fan sightings wherever he goes! We'll be right behind him!!! Thanks for all the info about Dingos ladies! At $90-110M it will be made correctly.

Gerard Butler's Rumored Point Break Remake Not Going Over Well With Fans Fans are not too excited about the possibility of Gerard Butler having a prominent role in the Point Break remake. The negative response comes on the heels of sources telling The Hollywood Reporter that the Scottish actor is in "final negotiations" to star in an adaptation of the 1991 classic surf film. The original movie, directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, tells the story of an FBI agent (Keanu Reeves) who goes undercover to try to catch a gang of bank robber-surfers, led by Patrick Swayze. The remake, which is slated for release in 2015 and will be directed by Ericson Core, keeps the same theme of an FBI agent trying to infiltrate a crime ring, however this version takes place in the world of extreme sports. Butler is expected to take the part of Bodhi—Swayze's character in the original film. The new Bodhi, according to THR, is "an expert extreme-sports athlete who seeks nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-foot waves." The role of the undercover FBI agent has not been cast yet. The news of Butler as Bodhi in the cult classic generated lots of excitement on Twitter, but not much positive reaction. "And, if you insist on remaking Point Break, at least have the DECENCY to cast Matthew McConaughey as Bodhi. Gerard Butler is an insult," one user tweeted. "Bad: Point Break remake. Worse: Gerard Butler as Bodhi," another added. "If I had even a speck of interest in seeing a POINT BREAK remake to begin with, casting Gerard Butler completely obliterated it," a fan of the original wrote. it.eonline.com/news/497826/gerard-butler-s-rumored-point-break-remake-not-going-over-well-with-fansThese people have no imagination. This will be a super production especially with those numbers. Bu-the-way Mina I love your avatar is that your kitty? It is so sweet.

When I first heard this I wasn't sure how I felt...especially since it means he will more than likely grow his hair out again and I'm diggin' the short hair (though I was a huge fan of the long hair). The idea is growing on me though.

I never actually seen PB. I'll keep it mind to see if on Netflix. I not sure how i feel about Gerry doing another sufer movie. I love the fact that Gerry does diffrent characthers and movies. He did great in CM. On the other hand it might be great so see him play the " bad guy" again.

Norwigi from what I've read, I think surfing will be just one of the many 'extreme' sports that will be featured. Maybe base jumping etc? Given the cult status of the original movie I am sure that the writers and director will be looking for the 'wow, man!' factor to get the audience in. Take a look at the Red Bull channel for a few ideas! www.youtube.com/user/redbull

There are so many movie classics that I watch with my niece that none of the kids in her class have watched. They have never seen the original Grease,Footloose, Mad Max (someone mentioned Tom Hardy), or Star Trek. I think Gerry would have made an excellent Mad Max. Wonder if he talked to Mel about the remake? ? The movie business uses more and more computers for effect even in the simplest films. I am warming up to Gerry doing Point Break. An example I like to think of is Anne Rice, she didn't want Tom Cruise to play Lestat and she admitted she was wrong after seeing him in it. Kathryn Bigelow is a great director, so she picked Gerry cause she knew he'd be great in the part!

I doubt he'd touch another surf movie with a ten foot pole.

There was a round of "nerd rage" when Heath Ledger was announced to play "The Joker," with plenty of prejudice against him partly because/by a whole other (older) generation was so enamored by Nicholson's eclectic portrayal over a decade before. And while Ledger's life ended tragically, his performance was met with resounding critical acclaim, incredible commercial success, and an Oscar win.

Laird Hamilton already fiming for Point Break magicseaweed.com/news/laird-back-towing-jaws-for-point-beak-2/6009/This isn’t Throwback Thursday, Laird was back towing Jaws on Wednesday, Jan 22nd, without a paddler in sight as that familiar bright yellow butterfly hovered over the peak. Filming for Point Break 2 took over the Peahi/Jaws lineup yesterday during the Pacific mega swell and the nostalgia is coursing through our veins. “Turns out they were filming Point Break 2 and they took over the whole lineup.” Mike Neal told us. “There were some big fat looking ones, but it was cloudy, rainy and windy. Far from ideal conditions. Laird was ripping, but took a couple bad wipeouts.” Mr Hamilton has been pretty quiet of late, surfing well out of the endemic spotlight and claims to use forecasting to avoid the madding crowd, however give him a feature film and he’ll be there faster than a rocket powered hydrofoil. Reasonably substantiated rumour has it he’s making a cameo role in the remake of the original classic. Definitely not North Shore 2 as we were originally told. And more from twitter twitter.com/magicseaweedIt was Point Break 2 not North Shore 2, we were incorrectly informed are a little disappointed. I wanted the former: magicseaweed.com/news/laird-back-towing-jaws-for-point-beak-2/6009/ … Matt Meyerson @mattrprt 2h @magicseaweed our client @jebcorliss films for that in June.. magicseaweed @magicseaweed 49m @mattrprt @jebcorliss Now he now? Any insider secrets we can glean? Matt Meyerson @mattrprt 10m @magicseaweed can't say much but jeb's doing wingsuit/skydive stunts and the rumor is for gerard butler to sign on as bodhi. filming in june

Well those pics bring back memories from CM, don't they?
Such beautiful pics with the blue ocean and big waves. I doubt Gerry will be in the water very much for this one but who knows? Mr. adventure may want to be shown surfing when he starts this in the summer.
Thanks for passing the news on!

Late nights, early mornings Aha this guy was director of photography on Payback, ala MEL GIBSON.

Watched Point Break on Thursday for the first time. It was on VH1 but there were so many commercials so I am going to rent it from Netflix But I can see Gerard Butler doing the movie. I think he would be good in it.
