WOW! out for a few days and what a beautiful surprise. I love the picture of the little girl who is sitting on his lap and he is leaning on her head but I'm hard pressed because Gerry and children are always a good mix How sad for him to be having so much fun and come home to the loss of one of Abella. Did he make it back in time for her memorial or did he have a private meeting with her family, I haven't seen anything.

This is great on so many levels. I liked that he remembers the children's names. That's important to kids, it makes them feel like someone noticed them. I also like in one of the interviews he said he didn't know if he was capable of being part of something so big and doing it justice or being eloquent enough to represent them (the Telegraph article). It shows he truly cares about what he does and it also shows how the man feels about himself, what I would consider down to earth. A peek into part of Gerry.

Thank you ladies for posting all these amazing photos and videos! It's almost too much for my brain and heart to handle. I am so proud and pleased that Gerry went and joined in with the locals in their lives for a short time. The photos and videos are amazing. This is as good if not better than a movie. This is Gerry being Gerry which is the best thing ever! What a big kid playing with the kids and entertaining them. He's so fun. Then we get the serious mature Gerry talking about the charity and how it is impacting him and them. He's wonderful in promoting anything and amazing at fitting into any situation. I have to say I was really impressed with his native dancing. That boy can move! I love the shot with the bucket on his head...adorable. My fave photo is the one of him with the little girl on his lap while he rests his chin on her head. That's the little girl that was so shy when he gave her food and he said she was overwhelmed. Isn't it like Gerry to go make friends with her and she ends up on his lap? The heartbreaking part to me is when he asks the little boy about his mom and dad. It's almost straight out of Machine Gun Preacher. Isn't it? Makes me cry. Thank you Magnus for being there for these kids and to Gerry for helping promote the charity. We always knew his mum had a huge influence on him. My God I said the same thing to my husband. Just like MGP. I guess in all these countries where poverty is rampant that most of the stories are the same. It boggles my mind that there can be such cruelty in the world and how one human being can do the atrocity's to another especially children. The look in their eyes is heart breaking. It needs to stop, but I don't see an end to this.

I am so impressed with how well the kids speak English! I had no trouble understanding what they said. In looking at these pictures it demonstrates that kids are the same everywhere in the world. Gerry relates to them so well...after all, isn't he a big kid himself? English is the official language of Liberia ... a bit of info from Wiki: "Liberia is the only country in Africa founded by United States colonization while occupied by native Africans. Beginning in 1820, the region was colonized by black people from the United States, most of whom were freed slaves. These immigrants established a new country with the help of the American Colonization Society, a private organization whose leaders thought former slaves would have greater opportunity in Africa. African captives freed from slave ships by the British and Americans were sent there instead of being repatriated to their countries of origin. In 1847, this new country became the Republic of Liberia, establishing a government modeled on that of the United States and naming its capital city Monrovia after James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States and a prominent supporter of the colonization. The colonists and their descendants, known as Americo-Liberians, led the political, social, cultural and economic sectors of the country and ruled the nation for over 130 years as a dominant minority. The country began to modernize in the 1940s following investment by the United States during World War II and economic liberalization under President William Tubman. Liberia was a founding member of the United Nations and the Organisation of African Unity. In 1980 a military coup overthrew the Americo-Liberian leadership, marking the beginning of political and economic instability and two successive civil wars. These resulted in the deaths of approximately 250,000 people and devastated the country's economy. A peace agreement in 2003 led to democratic elections in 2005. Today, Liberia is recovering from the lingering effects of the civil wars and their consequent economic upheaval, but about 85% of the population continue to live below the international poverty line."

This is my favourite pic - holding the little girl confidently with both hands, balanced on his knee while she checks him out. You can almost feel those little limbs in your own hands. He is such a natural with kids. I love this pic too Fifi. He is such a natural with kids. I can feel his strong hands holding that little child's body and making her feel secure. She is looking at him like she's been Butlerlized. They probably don't see too many Scottish men in their daily lives. It must be amazing for these kids to have Gerry visit one day and make them smile as well as being caring enough to kneel to their level and hold them and talk to them. All kids like attention and to feel important. 3 cheers to the Scottishmen who brought us these photos and videos and insight into the lives of Liberia's small citizens!

Thank you fifi for the information about Liberia, very interesting history. I forgot that I knew that, but I didn't know that English was the official language...now it all makes sense.

Wanted to share everybody that earlier this afternoon I made 40.00 to Mary's Meals. This is what I posted on Gerry's Facebook. Want you to know that I enjoyed reading the articles, seeing the pictures and watching the videos of you in Liberia. It really inspired me so early this afternoon I made a 40.00 donation in your honor. Merry Christmas.. Christy.
