There have been so many fan pics on set why would anyone pay that kind of money? I could see starting the bid at $100 or such but almost a thousand for just a picture with Gerry on the set?
The amount just seems outrageous to me for something many have gotten for free!
I looked up their site to see where the money goes and it said it's for the Minorities in Broadcasting Training Program. You have to go to FAQ to find it but I'm sure anyone would want to know where their donation is going and if it's a worthy enough cause for that kind of money. Also, it's is not tax deductable until the donation is over $4000, if I'm understanding it correctly! Wow!
More power to them, I guess!

that's a good question: how much money would i pay for seeing gerry? its really a tough one...if id be an american i think it would be easier to tell..but i cant even really imagine the usa! i think i could be convinced (by a really smart person, really trustworthy;P) that its all just conspiracy and america is just a huuuuge set build to make us believe there is a place far far away where all the stars live (<<<kidding!!!) speaking of weird fantasies... sometimes i imagine what id give for him in exchange like .......really really weird stuff : a shorter life or...dunno lotsa weirdo thoughts!!!shame on me i don't have 10.000 dollar.. but on the other hand its just so unrealistic! so i rather keep on imagining the countless of possible encounters in which i meet him accidentally totally unaware of who he is and we flirt and ....well and... you know the rest none the less i hope we get to see some pics after the event!!! i wanna see the lucky gal that won and of course gerry!!!^^ (i just recently read about dianne meeting gerry on the mgp set that was so exciting!!! *want more*) whispers :ps.:can i ask who michelle is???)

Well the point of a charity auction is you are donating that money to charity, not necessarily paying for the value of the "experience" per se, and the experience is more than just getting a photo, though what value you ascribe to that experience varies with each person, the celebrity package is to entice you to dig deep for the charity.
Some people might not be in a position to meet Gerry unless it was under some prearranged situation and you get to watch the filming for two whole days, maybe you get to spend more time with GB and other actors than you might in the usual fan situation. And in many cases the actual film location is closed off to most of the public so actually being able to see the filming would be the coolest part to me, to watch Gerry in action for a whole two days and just watching the process of a film being made. Now if they are filming in a public location accessible to the public that would make it less special but I think even when they were filming in the park in Shreveport, the public couldn't see what was going on inside the park most of the time. You had to just wait outside. Detroit it was a bit more open but they would go into a house or a bar and you couldn't see what was happening unless you say were cast as an extra [cough: Dianne] or say had a small role in the film [cough: Misty] Not everyone is lucky enough to live in Santa Cruz or Half Moon Bay or Shreveport or Detroit etc.
But other people if they find the charity is worthy enough they'll ante up large amounts of money for the charity itself. And a lot of people have a lot of money so to them $10,000 eg is chump change. Was it Gerard or Adrien who paid $15,000 to have tea with the other at an APJ auction? They could have coughed up more LOL.
Michelle is the person from Hollywood Charity Auctions who started this thread and posted information about this package.

(i am studying art and am still sorting out my interests.so i do a short film with some guys this semester.it could be soooo much easier if i just had money...though a small budget keeps one wily.) so being on a big set....awesome!!!watching gerry do his thing....invaluable!!!

That would be SOOOOOOOOOO COOL to do whether Gerry is present or not. Being in a wheelchair premieres are a nightmare and being a movie nut I've always wondered what a movie set is like ............... but I don't have a money tree in my backyard

I have a money tree but I seemed to have killed it. Well literally there is a plant called a money tree and I overwatered it. Oops.

Are they filming in LA then? It seems like they wouldn't ask someone to go to Shrevesport for a set visit.
I would be in heaven watching him or anyone on a set. It'd be a thrill. Esp if it were him.

No they are filming in Shreveport and apparently you have to look after your own transportation and accommodations and also be ready because March 25 and March 26 are just estimated dates - probably weather dependent? or say Mavericks Invitational gets called.
So I would think whoever bid lives in Louisiana or is willing to hang out in LA for a week to collect on their prize.

Hi, sorry where exactly is the set? I don't know Shreveport (apologies for being extremely thick!!!) - I'm based in teh UK. This would be just an amazing experience!!! Wow - would love to spend time on a film set - how exciting - even more so if GB is on set! wow and double wow. When do we get to find out the lucky winner? Isn't it amazing sometimes what lots of money can buy you :-(

Isn't it amazing sometimes what lots of money can buy you :-( The Playing the Field (Playing for Keeps) set visit was done through a charity auction in March and the movie is now in post-production. I imagine the person who won the auction enjoyed the experience. But, I did not read any reports of this visit. Maybe they will run a auction again on one of Gerry's movies again. shellie
