My gut hunch is that Gerry will be not be able to attend TIFF to support Ariel in his film The Iceman. It is being screened on September 10th which is a Monday night and it looks like at most the only days off on OHF are on the weekend AND it is abundantly clear that they are running behind schedule and they have to be finished by September 15. They really seem to be scrambling to get this done. They worked 17 hours according to the one actor on Friday night into Saturday. I think that after his weekend off which if he worked into the early hours of Saturday was not a whole weekend off, Gerry had other business to attend related to one of his many other projects but it seems he was back to work this week at least by Wednesday. He hasn't gone to TIFF in the past unless he had his own projects to promote and I think even if he really really wanted to, not sure he can unless the film progresses to a point where he can and he can hitch a quick jet ride with Avi Lerner - there is an small airport in Toronto where private jets can land just a few minutes from the Festival location so you could get in and out of Toronto in good time. Now if Millenium wants him to be there then that might be a different matter. If I were a betting person I'd give it definitely less than 50% possibility.
It seems to me that Chasing Mavericks would have been a good movie to premiere at TIFF and maybe one can read from the fact it is not part of TIFF that they already knew Gerry was not going to have the time to go to TIFF to support or it could just be that's not part of their PR strategy. If the movie got mixed reviews at TIFF you might be better not showing it.

1971 and Fifi!! Gerry looks great and seems to be in a good mood gbutler.ru have this on their site gbutler.ru/photos/so-nice/#more-36097 - comment from Sherri Erwin's FB page (via Google translate) ""He's so wonderful - Sherri writes on his page in Feysbuke. - I saw him coming out of the washroom and stopped him for a photo, but said, "Sorry, I do not want to bother you." To which he replied: "If you want, we will take a picture after I eat." When he ate, he went and found me and asked if I still want to be photographed! Oh my God! Yes, damn it! However, I had to wait in line a couple of skanks! And he has a hot accent - adds Sherri." Maybe this was deleted? I'm not seeing it now The comment is still there, just click on the photo and it shows... One more comment Melissa Taylor Jones: My former student is one of his chefs. Michael says he's extremely sweet. 3 hours ago www.facebook.com/sherri.erwin.7?sk=wall#!/photo.php?fbid=3686147834157&set=a.2089377875906.2103963.1288982945&type=1&theater

Oh I know he loves it there. I would have said 50% plus if it didn't sound like OHF is going down to the wire with his next film to start so soon thereafter. Movie over runs and movie delays cost money!!! Even the most loyal friend in the world can't always change circumstances and I think on OHF it changes daily even if perhaps they allotted him time to go things can change. Perhaps if Avi Lerner demands it Mr. Fuqua will have to make it so LOL.
But I also suspect Ariel will have other festivals lined up as well and of course the opening night release premiere of The Iceman is yet to come, I think they are still looking for distribution deal?
For our own selfish sakes we'd love to see him on a red carpet sooner than later.

I agree with you that OHF is top priority, but remember the PR value of GB appearing at TIFF red carpet, promoting "Ice Man" for Milennium, also CM and PFK. GB is a great salesman! TIFF could have great promotional opportunities for his career in general' and all upcoming projects. But Gerry is also conscious of not "outshining" his friends on the red carpet. He often snuck quitly into events that promoted one of his friends. So I don't count on Gerry making a red carpet appearance at TIFF.

He complained in Cannes about not being able to do red carpets and not having a movie, maybe he'll bring star power and say how great the movie and he and ariel are great friends.

That is so funny that all those guys are wearing them. Perhaps they are discussing the greatness of plaid and how it attracts females. As for TIFF, I really can't see Gerry telling cast and crew to delay the film so he can attend his friend's film at TIFF. This crew has been working at a rapid pace to get it done so Gerry could go do MC. Now they are all swearing becuz there is not MC to go to. It is nice to see that Gerry is still out there having some fun with the guys in Louisana and not letting the MC get him down!
