This Box Office news from Hollywood Reporter for China release- www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/china-box-office-jackie-chans-668030What I found interesting the movie with Jackie Chann is being released on 232,209 screens! Now that is a wide-release. I wonder how many screens OHF had for its release. Looks like OHF could make at least $3 million for a 3 day release. I think it would be great it the movie could make at lease $10 million from its run.

shellie2, thanks for this interesting information. OHF may do very well, and if does maintain its interest and return who knows but it might open things up for some of Gerry's other movies to be shown in China. China is a vast market and to gain a foothold in that country would be excellent.

shellie2, is there any further news about the box office from China? Hi! No new Box Office #'s but a few bloggers are commenting that the movie did not find an audience in China because Jackie Chan's film was a huge hit. I think some numbers will be coming soon on Box Office Mojo, they are 3 weeks behind in reporting the numbers for China.

I'm sure that there would have been an audience, but if Jackie's movie opened in more than 200,000 theatres it would overwhelm everything else, including OHF. Checking at Box Office Mojo in about a month's time might give us the final Chinese figure for OHF, although BOM can be very slow to update where foreign box office is concerned.

Hollywood Reporter has the news on the Box Office of OHF in China - www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/china-box-office-jackie-chans-668811Not very good numbers in comparison to the competition but OHF only made this amount in Australia and the largest Box office internationally was United Kingdom at $10 million. I had hoped it would find an audience maybe it will if it has at least 3 week release. I wonder how many screens the film was released on,those stats not given. I hope the it will make it to $10 million.

I think that we have to read this as a positive foray into the Chinese market. If OHF was the highest placed Hollywood movie during the week, it surely means that it did well in competition with home produced films. It could turn out to be a sound first step into a possibly huge market. Whether it reaches $10 million remains to be seen, but I believe that it bodes well for possible future releases.

Thanks, Christy. I knew about this Saturday, but not the others. Makes it easy to get some of my friends on the Gerry bandwagon.
