Thanks to Spa AGAIN! www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00043610.html2011 TIFF: Gerard Butler Salutes Like Sailor at 'Machine Gun Preacher' Premiere Looking dapper in blue suit at the premiere event during the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, the King Leonidas of '300' steals attention as he makes funny faces on the red carpet. Gerard Butler stole the attention during the premiere of "Machine Gun Preacher" at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Making a grand entrance at Roy Thomson Hall on Sunday, September 11, the 41-year-old Scottish actor made funny faces at cameramen and saluted the crowd like a sailor. For the event, Butler opted to show off his dapper side by donning a navy blue suit and a matching light blue shirt and plaid tie. He was joined on the red carpet by co-star Michelle Monaghan, who looked stunning in a white sheath mini dress and a pair of Brian Atwood's burgundy suede Power Studs pumps. Another cast member who was on hand at the premiere night was Madeline Carroll. The 15-year-old actress turned heads in her eye-catching sky-high heels that she paired with a blue dress. Her male co-stars, Michael Shannon and Souleymane Sy Savane, also suited up. In related news, Relativity Media have released two new clips from "Machine Gun Preacher". One titled "Bug You There?" presents a touching scene where Butler calls her on-screen daughter Carroll after a long time not seeing her, while another one called "I Miss Ya" sees Butler meeting Shannon at a bar. Scheduled for a September 23 limited release in the U.S., this Marc Forster-directed drama tells the true story of Sam Childers, a former gang biker who renounces his outlaw ways and embarks on a spiritual path. He becomes a warrior for the desperate and helpless children in a war-torn country in Africa.

Thanks Spa www.celebitchy.com/179729/gerard_butler_got_a_standing_ovation_in_toronto_but_how_does_he_look/Gerard Butler got a standing ovation in Toronto: but how does he look? I’ve been too focused on my lover Michael Fassbender. My other lovers are getting jealous, and they are demanding that I pay attention to them. It’s mostly Gerard Butler - there are a million new photos of G-But in Toronto, where he’s been for days. He’s been making the rounds at all of the parties, and then he co-hosted (I think) a charity event for Artists for Peace and Justice. The event was a cocktail party named “Painting The Night Red” - the proceeds benefited the organization’s work in Haiti. And then last night, Gerard premiered his new film, Machine Gun Preacher. The premiere photos are the ones with Gerard in blue. Thoughts on his new, slender look? As you know, I didn’t have a problem with him when he was heavier and moob-tastic. Yeah, he was kind of gross, but certain kinds of “gross” turn me on, and I still would have nailed his buttery moobs to the wall. He’s a dirty bastard, he’s shameless, and I love him. I know he’s losing weight for a role, and probably for his health too, and in the past few months, I’ve hated it. In some photos, he looks like he’s sick, not healthy. But he looks really good in Toronto. He’s got some color, he’s got some suits that fit, and he looks like the big player of Toronto. Anyway, it seems like Machine Gun Preacher was well-received last night, getting a standing ovation from the audience. The real Sam Childers was at the screening, and he gave the whole film the thumbs-up too, and The Mail reports that after the showing, G-But said, “Let’s go get a drink.” Still, I was looking through some of this morning’s reviews for the film, and they’re not all good. This one from HitFix claims that Butler is starring in (and he produced) a film that boils down to “Godsploitation” - as in, it’s a manipulative story of how faith in a Christian God made this one man a better person, with lots of scenes involving machine guns and bazookas. I suspect that the promotion for this film is going to be a hot mess, with Butler encouraging the American evangelical community to support this film because of the Jesusy message. We’ll see.

Gerard Butler & Michelle Monaghan Hit The Toronto Film Festival Is it me, or has Gerard Butler gotten even hotter with his new high-lighted and longer, slicked-back locks? The scruffy stud was spotted at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday to premiere his new flick, Machine Gun Preacher, along with Michelle Monaghan. The twosome didn’t hit walk the red carpet together, but they did sign a few autographs with fans, before doing the step-and-repeat for the photogs. While Michelle looked totally glamorous in a constructed gray-and-white mini, Gerard sizzled in a navy suit. sociool.com/gerard-butler-michelle-monaghan-hit-the-toronto-film-festival

The premiere was a huge success. The entire audience was engrossed, stock still and mesmerized by the story being told on the screen. We were treated to the introduction of the director and cast and of course Sam and Lynn Childers prior to the film. It was an awe-inspiring experience to be watching the premiere with these people sitting right along with you (they were sitting just a few sections away, unbeknown to us until the credits began rolling).
Misty, you rocked! And you were right, the tears kept rolling.
Gerry delivered a raw, powerful performance. Gutsy, stubborn and hell bent on making things happen. It would have been a great experience with any film, but because it was this film, a true story, that is current, still on-going, it made it all the more meaningful. Sam Childers is an inspiration - the captions at the end of the movie by him....there are no words.
We caught a glimpse of the cast afterward, and then they were whisked away. There must have been a thousand people in the hall being ushed out like cattle, but we looped around and observed them from a distance until they left.
On the way home, we drove by the location of the after party as it was on the way, and we were curious. We saw Gerry standing outside with very few people getting autographs and photos - literally ten or so. We quickly stopped and jumped out of the car and took our shot. He was hesitant for pictures, but perhaps because there were so few people, he graciously said okay. We congratulated him on the film and thanked him. Then he was out of sight! How lucky? We also got a picture with Souleymane Sy Savane - he was much more eager and willing - so sweet!
We suspect he may not be into the pictures so much when there isn't a lot of people around due to the threats he and the cast received recently. Either way, he is not obligated and I am just thankful I got to see him several times and take a picture with him. He looks great, healthy, and happy and with such a great response for the film, he should be.
Ah....so far a great Gerry weekend. But it's not over. I hope to make it to Coriolanus tonight!

Thanks spa.... Quick little blurb and I will second this!!! Gerard Butler: most fan-friendly celebrity ever? While celebrities like George Clooney are known to be extra-friendly with fans, Scottish actor Gerard Butler upped the ante at Roy Thomson Hall last night at the gala for his film Machine Gun Preacher. www.thegridto.com/

blogs.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/arts-a-entertainment/mad-about-the-movies/29612-a-movie-and-a-message-in-torontoThanks Spa machine-gun-preacher-07272011-481x300 Toronto International Film Festival, Sept. 11 Steeler Nation, yes it's everywhere. About an hour or two after I spot a woman in the Toronto hotel lobby with a No. 43 Steeler jersey -- her companion was wearing a Pirates cap and they were in town to see Pearl Jam – I find myself in Roy Thomson Hall for the gala screening of "Machine Gun Preacher" (photo above). As I'm on the way to slip out of my tennis shoes and put on actual heels when I hear a Canadian usher mention the last name Roethlisberger and "getting picked off." I stop and ask him the game score and he tells me. He commiserates about the 35-7 loss since he has Mike Wallace on his fantasy football team. You can spot a Steeler magnet on a refrigerator door in "Machine Gun Preacher" partially set in Central City, Somerset County, and Johnstown, Cambria County, although the Pennsylvania scenes were done in Detroit. 2011TIFFChilders_1202011TIFFButlerThe subject of the movie, Sam Childers (far left) from Central City, was there and he was not wearing a suit. Or a tie. No, he had on a Harley-Davidson leather jacket, a green shirt underneath, and dark trousers. His remarkable story was told on "Dateline NBC" and in a 2009 memoir called "Another Man's War: The True Story of One Man's Battle to Save the Children of Sudan." Now, Gerard Butler is playing the self-described "hillbilly from Pennsylvania" and onetime addict, ex-convict and construction worker who found God, went to Uganda to help rebuild a war-ravaged village and was inspired to find a way to shelter, safeguard and feed orphans (some former child soldiers, some maimed or traumatized, all largely abandoned by the world) in South Sudan and northern Uganda. It's the sort of story no one would believe, unless it were true, which it is. Childers and his red-carpet ready wife, Lynn, were introduced before the movie along with actors Butler, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon, Madeline Carroll and Souleymane Sy Savane. Afterward, the crowd rose to its feet and cheered Sam, who appears in real-life photos accompanying the closing credits as the song "The Keeper" by Chris Cornell plays. And when that was over, Butler loudly announced, "Let's go get a drink!" stilts This amused me to no end since I can rarely see over the heads of anyone standing in front of me. This is the way to go, with stilts.
