About the wedding band. I asked about that on another site a long time ago. This is the story I got. Gerry dated this girl years ago and she bought him that ring. He was taken aback by it at first and she explained that she buys that ring for all the men she's felt a connection too, and it was no big deal. He liked the ring so he continued to wear it for a while. Dianne's speculation (don't take this as fact)
I must say there is a part of me that wonders if Gerry may have been married really young because that is what he thought everybody expected of him and later divorced. Just like his experience with his law career where he traded that in for acting.
It would be like him to keep that part of his life secret. He may not want anyone trying to find his ex to dig up some dirt.
Like I said this is just musing on my part and not to be taken as fact.Interesting speculation, Dianne, I have often wondered about that ring myself and saw that interview where he talked about the girl that gave him an engraved ring after knowing him for a very short time. It does change hands sometimes, do they wear wedding rings on the left or right in the UK? In the Outlander's doesn't Claire wear one ring on her left and one on her right hand? Certainly would explain his avoidance of serious relationships if he had already had one marriage that failed, him being Catholic and all. Didn't that happen to David Letterman? Married young and screwed it up so avoided a second marriage until his son came into the picture? Letterman was also a man who had lots of girls, both young and old, for a man of his age and appearance. Imagine what he could have done with Gerry's smoldering hotness.

In "P.S. I love you" you can see pictures of "Baby" Gerry! They are on the table, maybe someone can grab them.

Gwen, I know that picture and I can't believe I forgot it. It's not a baby picture but one of him when he was about 8 or 9. I'll find it. Leppard might be able to find it faster. She is the one who noticed it first a long time ago.

I enjoy seeing pictures before the fame. You can see the innocent look in his eyes. Also you can see that natural charm he has. It would be interesting to see a picture of his father Edward Butler. I bet he is the one who looks just like him. His brother is very red headed and I bet that comes from Margaret. I just wonder if he was told as a child WoW you look just like your dad.

I always wondered what his dad looked like -- I wish we could get 1 but then that's Up to G.

His nieces are so lucky. My uncle was 20 when I was born and he lived with us. My father died when I was 3. Uncle Hermann and I had so much fun. He took me with him on dates and I was his chick-magnet. The girls gave me gifts to impress him. Most of them thought I was his child. Then we met my aunt and WE got married.
