July 8, 2010 Interesting interview of Brett Easton Ellis author of American Psycho and Less than Zero, his sequel novel to Less than Zero is coming out, Imperial Bedrooms and Gerard's name comes up, he thinks Christian Bale is too serious and points to Gerard: A: I don't know if it really works as a film [American Psycho]. It's trying to take something that's not answerable and answering it in a medium that demands answers, which is film. By the very nature of the medium, it demands that you make choices. Where a novel can be unresolved, an unreliable narrator, it doesn't matter. I think Mary a little bit was trying to have it both ways and kind of left it with an odd sense of displacement that wasn't particularly satisfying. That you can get away with in a novel. In a movie, especially a movie like that, a fairly mainstream movie, it's odd. But people like it. And because of that movie, a whole new audience discovered "American Psycho" the book. Certainly. Inevitably. And it started Christian Bale on his very humorless career. I always thought he would make a great comedian because he did some other movies early on where he didn't take himself so seriously. He did a movie called "Metroland." Q: Julian Barnes. A: Based on a Julian Barnes novel, right. And then you look back on "Swing Kids" and "Newsies" where he's singing and dancing and now he's turned into a very monotonous actor who just does not crack a smile. I don't know if that's where he's at right now in his life where he's not able to get to that romantic place within himself. It's strange. I'd love to see him do a romantic comedy. I mean, Gerard Butler does romantic comedies. Q: None of them are any good. A: Right, none of them are any good, but he does them. www.californiachronicle.com/articles/yb/147172399Also interesting to read his take on the film industry today as well.

Thursday, 8 July 2010 Get Her To The Greek...Party! Apart from loving screaming "THIS.IS.SPARTA!!" when I kick my front door after a hard day at work, there is not much I have taken back from the movie the 300. Oh yes, actually - dudes in tiny skirts. And nice legs. Jealous, me? Maybe, coz I really don't know how they managed to make hairy dudes look so good in skirts and dresses!! GRRR. Anyway! I am really loving the grecian trend that's out at the moment, and I think I am going to go Greek (and I dont mean lesbian) this summer, especially for the 30th of July when me and the other ladies from my marketing course are having a huge party. The party's theme was originally "Fug Is The New Fab" (my fault- it was funny at the time) but I am secretly hoping we are changing this. Otherwise I might have to go as a non photoshopped dwarf version of Gerard Butler. Ugh. Rest of the article bit.ly/bileBTThose grecian inspired dresses very cute, get one do your best Lena Hedley impersonation, get G to dust off the KL costume you do the math, LOL

Male disorder – what’s wrong with Scottish men? bit.ly/9kXLRKExcerpt: From Braveheart to breakfast porridge, the popular portrayal of our nation’s manhood remains that of a rugged kilt-clad hero, stoic at his best, out of touch with his feelings and prone to a spot of boozy chest-beating at worst. While the model of the metrosexual man – as comfortable with a spot of “guyliner” and nursing a baby as he is chopping wood or watching football – is seen as the pinnacle in the modern western world of what a man should be, this phase in the social evolution of men appears to have all but passed by the Scottish male, according to experts. “The hard-man image is a very celebrated image in Scotland. Metrosexual men … are fairly few and far between.” From the football field, with Sir Alex Ferguson, to the silver screen, where the brutal masculine charm of Sir Sean Connery and Gerard Butler captivates audiences, the Scottish hero represents traditional ideals to say the least. Indeed, the only example of a metrosexual Scot in Hollywood may be actor and gay rights campaigner Alan Cumming. Read the rest of the article www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/male-disorder-what-s-wrong-with-scottish-men-1.1039135Simple we women are so fickle, we want the manly man back. Speaking of Alan Cummings I just saw him in a movie last night with Emily Rossum. Bit weird called Dare. I do love him tough as an actor. Yeah! Woohoo!! Let's hear it for Scotsman!!! I love manly men and I hope Scotsmen never change.

Twitters on Friday night mentioned that Gerry was once again at the South Bar in Birmingham Michigan - someone said it was a campus bar, please say that ain't so and another bar called the Hamilton Room that likes to tout itself as exclusive but I had to laugh this is comment written at a site with a review of the bar bit.ly/cj55FgThey were clearly not impressed. And frankly when I was 21 I would not be impressed. I have to think if he was there it wasn't long or someone was trying to pump up the Hamilton Room you never know with Twitter.

July 13 2010 GERARD'S HAIRY RIDE ; the Razz By BEV LYONS SCOTS hunk Gerard Butler spent hours perfecting his six-pack for the movie 300, but it looks like combing over the scripts for his latest movie have just left him with a bad hair day. The Paisley-born actor seems to have gone all trailer trash on us as he showed off a less-than-sexy mullet and beard during the filming of new film Machine Gun Preacher. The movie tells the real-life story of Sam Childers, a former drugdealing biker tough guy who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who were kidnapped and forced to become soldiers. It also stars Michelle Monaghan, who shot to fame in Mission: Impossible III. Fans will be delighted that Gerard's new biker look gives the sexy 40-year-old a chance to show off his bulging biceps. But they'll be hoping that it's a case of hair today and gone tomorrow as far as Gerard's dodgy barnet is concerned. (c) 2010 Daily Record; Glasgow (UK). Provided by ProQuest LLC.
