In a radio interview on the Hugh Hewitt show on February 6, 2009, Vince Flynn disclosed that he has signed a movie deal for this book to be the first of the Mitch Rapp books to make it to the large screen. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Lemkin but it has not yet been picked up by a studio. On January 1, 2010, Variety announced that Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Shooter) will direct spy thriller Consent to Kill for CBS Films with Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Nick Wechsler producing.[1] From Wikipedia: CBS Films has expressed interest in Gerard Butler, Colin Farrell or Matthew Fox for the role of Mitch Rapp.[2] PLEASE - MATTHEW FOX? ?? Anyway, I read the synopsis of Mitch Rapp's story - O.M.G. - Gerry would KILL this!!

Recent article on Consent to Kill and Vince Flynn's wish that GB play the title role ince Flynn vs. Gerard Butler Sue Millinocket | September 13, 2010 Vince Flynn movie causes confluence of two fan bases When CBS Films optioned the rights to Vince Flynn’s novel Consent to Kill they set in motion what is probably just another day for Hollywood. But for fans of the author, there was a lot of excitement about his Mitch Rapp character finally coming to the big screen. As much as most of us rue the outcome of our favorite books when they become movies, we still want desperately to see them made. You never know, this may be a book whose movie turns out to be another Shawshank Redemption. We’ve been watching Consent to Kill develop over the months and it’s turned into a fascinating peek into how a book goes from page to screen. The ongoing casting debate on various message boards across the internet provides another angle on the pressures of turning popular source material into a film. We’re a little obsessed with the whole process, to be honest. Mitch who? That’s Mitch Rapp, of course. The tough as nails main character in Consent to Kill as well as a number of other Flynn novels. He’s the main draw for a lot of fans, kicking ass and taking names. Once the development of the film project was announced immediate speculation began as to who would be cast in the lead role. It was that speculation that led us to where we are today – no cast has been announced but there have been enough rumors that Gerard Butler has become a front-runner in the minds of both Flynn and Butler fans. What if? So what happens if someone besides Butler is cast? Which fan base is bigger and more the driving force behind interest in the movie? Right now some people are saying that if Butler is not Mitch Rapp, they won’t see the movie. Some people are only interested in the movie because of the speculation that Butler will play the lead. Others are straight up Flynn fans who will see the movie no matter who is cast. It makes me wonder about other books that have been made into movies. Would Twilight fans have boycotted the movie had Henry Cavill (an English actor originally considered for the role) been cast as Edward Cullen? What if Robin Williams had been cast to play Jack Torrence in The Shining (yes, he was considered)? How about if Tom Hanks (who was originally offered the role) played Ray Kinsella in Field of Dreams? Does casting director know best? The best movies are those that make us say, “I can’t imagine anyone else playing that character”. Someone, somewhere did exactly that – imagined perhaps dozens of people playing the character and managed to choose just the right one. So as we speculate as to whether Butler will play the role of Mitch Rapp in Vince Flynn’s Consent to Kill, there’s a casting director somewhere pulling his or her hair out, trying to manage schedules, please directors, writers, authors and fans in an attempt to create that magical connection between character and actor that turns both into icons. Good luck, casting director, whoever you are, for skepticism will abound and internet chatter will call for heads on platters if Mitch Rapp is not played by Gerard Butler. Then again, if internet pressure had been around back in 1984 we may well have seen Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones. Maybe we should be hoping that whoever is casting Consent to Kill is immune to the rumor mill. www.movierewind.com/vince-flynn-vs-gerard-butler

I think we discussed this earlier - there was a very odd article that appeared a few months ago which seemed to suggest Gerry has some connection to Mission Impossible IV not only that but he was scouting locations for the film which made no sense unless Evil Twins was one of the producers and Tom Cruise would seem to be able to raise money for any film even after his couch dance without having to need money from Evil Twins.
Well it does seem they are filming in Dubai and Jeremy Renner, the guy from The Hurt Locker is also cast in one of the lead roles. So whether someone mixed up Jeremy and Gerry, very bizarre.

I've heard that after his movie with Cameron Diaz flopped, the Mission Impossible movie was tabled; TC just isn't commanding the theater numbers he used to.
I like Jeremy Renner, he did an amazing job in the movie "The Hurt Locker"; that was an awesome movie.

According to IMDB Mission Impossible IV is ready to roll on December 6th and they just announced another casting, Josh Holloway the manliest man on network TV from Lost is now part of the cast of MI IV and he is playing a CIA agent, eat your heart out Matthew Fox. And they signed the villian from Girl with a Dragon Tattoo? His name escapes me and I think he is going to be a villain in MI IV.
I have been curious to see how Josh fares post Lost.
Be cool if Gerry got a small but interesting role as a villain for a change.
PS Manliest man in cable tv toss up between Jon Hamm, Thomas Jane and the cast of Spartacus, sniff.

Now this was posted at a Facebook page recently: Brendan Noble Les Miserables is planning to make its way to the big screen in 2013 with Hugh Jackman as Jean ValJean, Gerard Butler as Javert, and Johnny Depp as Thenardier. I sure hope thats not just a rumor because that would be epic 18 hours ago
And someone said claimed it reported this at IMDB and posted the link to the Les Miserable 2013 page
However if you check either the regular IMDB site or IMDB Pro a director has not been chosen nor is there any word about casting.
The project notes says the property was optioned in August 2010. And clearly Working Title Films the production company has four films they are working on now and have 27 projects in development.

Further to Les Miserable the only article at IMDB I can find is from August 2010 and they mentioned Working Title Films picking up Les Miserable, no word on casting, Bridget Jones 3 and a movie I am intrigued by except this has to be the third version of the same movie? Except this will be directed by the original Swedish director. I have seen the Swedish movie, it is very good but I digress. "Let The Right One In" director Tomas Alfredson and starring Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Fassbender and Colin Firth what a cast though www.google.ca/search?q=Let+the+Right+One+In&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___CA377

Now they suggest Russell Crowe as Valjean which I can see more age and type wise and Hugh Jackman as Javert well, he's the second to last person I can see playing that role.... Huh??? (Gerry being the last...LOL) Why do they pick hot guys as Javert? He is not supposed to be Gerry or Hugh - ish hot! Eeeek.... I stopped reading after they started to bash the singing in POTO again. That is WHY Gerry will never do another movie musical again. I think he really got hurt when he got all this hate for that movie. I just hope that some of the love from his fans for him in that role got through to him too... But he hinted in a few interviews when ask about rumored roles "Well, they probably don't want me in it, they want Michael Crawford..." Just listen to the Nim's Island fan club interview, it's in there and he said something like that in other interviews as well. He never ever was disrespectful toward MC but he was hurt by all the negative comparisons.

OK so let me get this straight. They're making ANOTHER Le Miz movie, but including the music this time?
This is getting ridiculous. Are there no more original thoughts in writer's heads, or has the whole reality show thing fried everyone's brains? I'm truly disappointed in Hollywood lately.

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed his singing in POTO, I loved the rockin' edge to his voice and that was what ALW had wanted for the movie role. Gerry's acting was amazing and when I wrote my fan letter to him, I told him how much I loved this movie, his singing and that his performance moved me to tears. I can't decide which pairing I would like more: Gerry and Johnny Depp or Gerry and Hugh Jackman.
