Gerry's name is now starting to get attached to a lot of projects, some which never pan out or just wishful thinking on the part of directors or producers etc but I thought we could keep those rumours here and if they pan out then we'll start up a separate thread. Now we found out about on twitter how this actor's friend got a phone call from Gerard by accident because his friend had ended up with the old cell phone number of Joe Carnaghan a Hollywood director and Gerard was clearly trying to get in touch with him [in the hills of Scotland does the man never rest] and in the course of the conversation he mentioned the film he was doing with Joe Carnahan. Here is the tale of that phone call ladydanville.wordpress.com/2010/06/02/gerard-butler-and-lady-danville/I had posted a link in the C box a while ago but can't find it again but I had read that Gerard was under consideration for the lead role in a movie called White Jazz. George Clooney was originally cast but delays meants George bowed out. Here is some info on the movie White Jazz is a 1992 crime fiction novel by James Ellroy. It is the fourth in his L.A. Quartet, preceded by The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, and L.A. Confidential. Lieutenant David Klein is a veteran policeman who moonlights as a hitman for organized crime. When he is assigned to investigate a robbery at the home of the Los Angeles Police Department’s sanctioned heroin dealer, he uncovers a plot to bring the city’s crime syndicates into collusion with the channels of justice. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_JazzNow I didn't realize the main character plays a policeman who moonlights as a hitman, I love that twist.

So do I. This one sounds good for Gerry if it becomes true.
I've heard about him possibly being in "A Star is Born", but the idea of that one makes me cringe.

Now there is another Carnahan movie in development that might also be something they are looking at Gerry for, Gerry was spotted with Ridley Scott last night at the Soho House having dinner Well Ridley is producing The Grey, another movie directed by Carnahan: Bradley Cooper has signed on to star in filmmaker Joe Carnahan’s thriller The Grey. Carnahan directed Cooper in the bigscreen adaptation of The A-Team, due out this summer. The story is about a group of Alaska pipeline workers who crash land while flying back into civilization after being remote for a few months. The survivors begin to be hunted by a pack of rogue wolves. Carnahan once told cinematical that “it’s very much a man vs. nature adventure, existentialist kind of drama that I want to do.” The project will be produced by Ridley and Tony Scott through their Scott Free banner, and is being sold at Berlin’s film market. Any coincidence that Brad and Gerry presented together at the Oscars? Sounds like a movie that will have an ensemble cast, sounds intriguing.

I would love to see Gerry in either one of those roles, he really looks hot, I mean hot in a roman uniform. Does anyone have the pic of Gerry in Caligula? I'm going to try to hunt one down. Found one....

I think he looks great in roles such as this also. However i think Rachel Weisz would have been better as Cleopatra, no offense but someone who already has a European accent should play this role. Angelina Jolie doesn't do accents very well, and what are they going to do to cover up all of those tattoos; hire a body double?

Well Angelina gets cast based on her fame and box office numbers, if it is going to be an epic movie it will be expensive and they will want at least one huge name attached as box office insurance.
Though I think she is hardly the best actresses out there for this role. Gerry on the other hand would make a great Marc Anthony or Caesar but I am not that enthusiastic seeing him with Jolie again. Tomb Raider was light and frothy. Would have preferred an actress with more gravitas as they say.

Not happy about Gerry being in another movie with AJ, I would go see it if he played Antony or Caesar... this would be a great project for him... and like Dianne, I want to see him dressed in a Roman uniform.

wow..this all sounds so interesting. 'the grey' story & how it may be done sounds similiar to that film with anthony hopkins and alex baldwin (man vs. nature vs. man) against the wild tundra of the far north. could be interesting even more so if the director has 'tension' between cooper & gerry more than battling hungry wolves....some tremendous ethical dilmena.... lastly, i think anjolie would make a great cleopatra even though she 'look's more like nephertiti, really. absolutely agree that gerry is SO suited to portray great men of antiquity...he's got that chisled look....rome, greece..anything ancient....just gimme the toga...pa-leeze!

I don't know...Maybe AJ would be good as Cleopatra - I imagine Cleo as a strong, serious woman, aware of her sex-appeal. absolutely agree that gerry is SO suited to portray great men of antiquity...he's got that chisled look....rome, greece..anything ancient....just gimme the toga...pa-leeze! Ooooh, YES.

I need to look into this but it seems, just as Jackie Collins asked the twitterverse who would be good inspiration for characters in her next Hollywood based novel and several people volunteered Mr. Butler, it seems Anne Rice or Anne Rice fans are active on twitter last few days giving Anne Rice suggestions in respect to actors - not sure if she has a new book coming out that is being optioned or she is trying to get some other books made into film, but Gerard's name is coming up a lot in respect to her work and even Lestat.

Anne Rice doesn't have any books optioned for movies right now; according to Wikipedia, the plans to make her book "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt" into a movie was cancelled. Don't know if a lot of you are aware of this, Anne Rice only writes books based on her Catholic faith. Gone are the vampire stories and books of witches.

It's something how she turned into a Christian writer and her stuff was just bizarre. I'm not usually put off by what I read but her last vampire book was so over the top and seemed so sacrilege that I quit reading it mid book.

Was that book Memnoch the Devil - I found that a very fascinating book actually as it was more a discussion about religion under the guise of being a vampire novel. I don't actually find it that unusual though because to be religious is to be curious about the afterlife and this concept of creatures who are immortal called vampires and where they all fit in with God and the Devil and morality. I just know that a bunch of Anne Rice fans have been active on Twitter and mentioning Gerard. I personally don't see Gerard doing vampires again because I think he would prefer not to repeat himself if he can help it. Though for my own personal pleasure I'd love to see him be a vampire in the next Underworld movie with Kate Beckinsdale, too bad I think his friend Bill Nighy's character, the head vampire in that series is now been killed off. Vampires wearing black leather hello. Fighting lychens the human/werewolf hybrids.

I think Kate Beckinsale is GORGEOUS. She and G would be smokin' together IMO.
