I haven't heard about a wrap party. They might have one before they take off for Africa and the crew who is not going to Africa is wrapped. So they could do one here and one there, I dunno! Sometimes the extras from a movie will all get together for a wrap party of their own. We had a rockin' time at the one for Red Dawn!
My trailer (or 'box with air conditioning' as I like to call it! You can SEE how tiny and non-glamorous it is!) was the one to the right of the pink LUCY sign. The steps outside of it are where Michael Shannon and I sat and talked for a while. I can not stress how awesome of a person he is. VERY nice. Very quiet and very very very funny. He has a dry, deadpan delivery that kills me. Plus he's totally adorable in person. I would love beyond anything to work with him again.
Also you can see why my trailer was Sunblock Central for a while. I kept putting sunblock on all my friends because it was so freakin' hot and sunny out.
And it's a newsboy cap that my husband hates. I have it in the green polyester and also a grey wool one. He keeps threatening to burn them. I keep threatening to burn HIM if he touches my hats. I <3 my hats. I am very much a hat person.
Also the t-shirt is from my derby team. It's also got a little Derby Dimes pin on it, too. I got one for Gerry and one for Frank, head of wardrobe who was already in Africa so they said they'd send it out to him. I taught Frank how to throw a solid hip check. lol!
EDIT TO ADD: PS!!!! Dianne, thanks for the pictures!

I haven't gotten those developed though although I think I will tomorrow, I will get you a copy of those few pics and send them to you so you have something to remember the experience. Wish I could have gotten one of you and Gerry. Wouldn't that have been freaken cool?

We know from twitter [and OLV] that MGP filming in Detroit continues with Gerard and that that MGP filming
Both from July 30 Twitter #1 @matthewjboucher: I worked with Michelle monaghan and gerard butler today! Felt like I was doing something! And it was a speaking role.
Twitter#2 I have been booked 11 days for Disneys "Real Steel" and another day for "Machine Gun Preacher".
Oh but wait this just in MistyMills Suppose I should get motivated. Got the Machine Gun Preacher wrap party tonight.
Could this be the end?

From Detroit News Last Updated: July 31. 2010 1:00AM Tom Long: Reel talk Oscar nominee Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") has joined the cast of "Machine Gun Preacher," now shooting in Metro Detroit. Shannon also has signed on to play a dirty cop chasing Joseph Gordon-Levitt's bike messenger in "Premium Rush," and to play a husband whose veteran wife comes home from war in "Return." Apparently getting an Oscar nomination (and being immensely talented) can lead to jobs. www.detnews.com/article/20100731/OPINION03/7310310/1031Mr. Shannon is one busy beaver.

Thanks to Terezoulini for this link, here is an account of the wrap party from last night www.gerardbutlergals.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33575&st=20and a photo of Gerry with the guy who gave the account i841.photobucket.com/albums/zz332/thelastpolarbear/gerryandme.jpgMan, leather cuffs on a man make me hot, forgive my digression Now Bunny007 said she thought they'd be filming today, no word as to whether there was any filming yesterday, he was spotted in a hotel around 4 pm yesterday according to a twitter OLV and BeforetheTrailer have nothing and they have not been filming on weekends up to now but if they are running a bit behind schedule? Or does the wrap party means the Detroit footage is in the can as they say and ready to move on to probably Johannesberg

So yesterday I was in the checkout line at the store and my phone rang. Usually if I don't know the number I'll let it go to voice mail if I'm busy or in a busy place like I was, but for some reason I answered it this time. It was one of the guys from MGP telling me that they were having a wrap party that night from 10-2 AM and where it was. I finished checking out and was driving home before it hit me! It's weird because it was at a bar I've been to in an area where I hang out all the time. So that was cool.
My sister was my hot date for the night since my husband had already had plans with a friend of his who had been out of town for several weeks and just got home and he didn't want to stand his buddy up (though I'm SURE he would have understood!). So my sister went with me. We got there around 10:10. Yes, we were fashionably on time instead of fashionably late, but all the stuff we did beforehand (like going to eat) took way less time than we thought!
Speaking of... the food. omg. Free food and there was a ton and it was ALL SO GOOD. Or at least that's what everyone said and I've had the food there before so I knew it wasn't bad. I'd already eaten though so I wasn't hungry. Plus an open bar. It's odd, though. When I can drink for free, I tend to not really drink. I had one drink and kept sucking down water the rest of the night.
Anyway, at first I didn't really know anyone there. There were some people from set who I'd seen before but didn't know, so I kinda hung out with my sister and talked and wandered around a bit. Eventually more and more people I knew showed up. The awesome makeup guys, the woman who did my hair, the head of basecamp who I adore, Gerry's dialect coach Jerome (with his SUPER adorable girlfriend/wife and omg are they so cute together!), my friend Judy who played the employment office worker, etc. And yes, Gerry and Marc were both there, as was the real Sam Childers, who looks nothing like Gerry but man does Sam have a real presence to him. They have that in common!
On a side note, Marc introduced me to his girlfriend and she was totally cute and sweet. So he was talking to her and was saying how Michael Shannon is an amazing actor and I'm all 'Yes, I agree totally, he's pretty awesome' and stuff and he starts telling her how in the one scene it's me and him sitting at a table and each take we had to improv and how Michael would just come up with this stuff and I'd roll with it and he was telling her how great of a job I did with it. I dunno if he really MEANT meant it, but hearing him say it made my night. He's SUCH a great guy.
But the highlight of the night may have been that I got my weekly fix of karaoke! I unfortunately left before Gerry sang. I left around 12:45ish and the party went until 2 AM. I was tired and had to go get my husband from his buddy's, then it was about a 45 minute drive home for us so I ended up getting home just after 2 AM as it was. I did sing one song! I sang Paradise City by GnR. Later on when I was getting ready to leave and finally went to talk to Gerry (he had people around him ALL NIGHT LONG so I didn't want to interrupt but my sister BEGGED me to introduce them and see if he'd take a picture with her so I couldn't say no!).
He was standing in a corner talking to some kids who were playing a game of foosball (not sure whose kids they were) and some adults and he looked up and saw me and waved. I smiled, waved back, we waited a bit then finally we had enough room to go up to him. He hugged me, said hi and that it was nice to see me. I said hi and introduced him to my sister who I thought was going to implode with glee or something. I said I was getting ready to leave and I just wanted to say hi before I left. My sister asked him for a picture so I took one (well two, one was blurry) and then she asked if we could get one of the three of us and grabbed some random guy to take it. It came out blurry but I don't really care. So we talked for a few, then I went to the valet people and got my car which was like a 30 minute process! Stood outside waiting and talking to some of the other crew I knew. My sister had driven herself so she ended up staying and I kept teasing her that she'd have to tell them she was me if they asked her name since there was a list and she was my +1. I think by then they relaxed it a bit though. But we went in and they were really strict about making sure you were on the list!
My sister texted me later saying I'd just missed him going up to sing. I dunno what he sang or not, she didn't text me after that and I haven't talked to her yet.
So that was the wrap party!

Gee you know for Gerry life must be like being the bride and groom at a wedding at every event.
Marc Forster looks like a laid back guy in all his photos I always imagine directors will look intimidating but many of them don't........

So that was the wrap party! hi fiera! this is a cool posting. one thing struck me....the regularity of it all! (no... not talkin' bout the "normal" 'regularity', just the "regular" 'regularity') (chuckle)..okey dokey...moving on now.... it sounds like a 'regular night out' for celebration, brevity and that is cool. it sounds like you had a good time with your sister! so glad she got to meet n'greet the gerry man! and sam childers was there too? yup...this lovely missionary man looks nothing like our gerry....though, he does seem to have a lot of charisma too! ya'know i definately 'hear ya', i've had a similar situation when married....spouse had 'other' plans' happening sometimes when it counted for me. (shrugs)....but, now that i think about it understand about your love sticking to set plans with out of town friend. friendship IS important. it matters. but consider...if too many 'situations' occur ?? right? notice i wrote....'married' LOL....past tense HA! just sayin'...i know....not my business

Yeah. He had asked if I was SURE it was okay if he didn't go. I said it was fine. He'd have had fun, but he HATES karaoke and he didn't know anyone and isn't really the type to enjoy that sort of situation nearly as much as my sister did. My sister left me like 283472347 voice mails and texts about how much fun she had and thanking me so much for taking her. She and her boyfriend just broke up and she's been depressed about it, so I was glad I got to give her a night out. Plus she's kinda part of the whole reason I even tried acting. She's the one who taught me when I was younger that if I wanna do something, I better damn well go and do it because once the chance is gone, it's gone for good. Plus to see her having so much fun made me happy!
Apparently he sang 'Lady in Red' which is a good song and I am sorry I missed it. Oh well!
And yes, it was very much like a 'regular' night out. It wasn't much different than any other night with my friends. Karaoke up at a bar in Dearborn, like that's any different for me. lol. It's a bar I have been to many times doing something I do all the time so it wasn't too different at all!
